We are pleased to announce that Kinga Ślusarczyk, a first-year student of Master’s degree studies of Chemical Technology at the Faculty of Chemistry of the Rzeszów University of Technology has taken 1st place in the 2nd edition of the competition for the best engineering thesis adressing the topic of water, hydrogen and carbon organized by Bank Gospodarstwa Krajowego and Dziennik Gazeta Prawna.
Its goal was promoting 3W idea, combining water, hydrogen and carbon based technologies and supporting scientists, entrepreneurs and public administration representatives in building better future.
One of the winners was Kinga Ślusarczyk, a member of the Chmielarz Research Group (https://pchmielarz.v.prz.edu.pl/en/group-members) and vice-secretary of the Student and Doctoral Scientific Society of Chemical and Pharmaceutical Engineering IPSUM (https://ipsum.prz.edu.pl/). Awarded work entitled „Surface initiated atom transfer radical polymerization in microliter scale” included development of environmentally friendly and effective method of flat material surface functionalization. To achieve this goal, few methods of modification was employed to decrease the copper catalyst complex concentration and minimise the volume of reaction mixture applied per cm2 of material to reduce not only the price of the process, but also amount of waste produced.
