We are pleased to announce that MSc Eng. Kinga Siewierska, a member of the Chmielarz Research Group has begun an international research internship as part of the Mieczysław Bekker Programme, funded by the Polish National Agency for Academic Exchange (NAWA).
During her internship in the research group of Prof. Elisabetta Ranucci at the University of Milan (Università degli Studi di Milano), MSc Eng. Kinga Siewierska will carry out a research project entitled „Synthesis of the biocompatible crosslinkers for curing of polydimethylsiloxane (PDMS) based materials for ophthalmic applications.”
The main objective of the project is to develop new biocompatible materials for ophthalmic applications. During her stay in Milan, research will focus on the synthesis and characterization of crosslinking agents based on natural L-amino acids, which will subsequently be used to cure linear PDMS-containing copolymers.
The internship provides an excellent opportunity to gain new research experience, develop expertise in modern polymer chemistry, and establish international scientific collaborations. The project combines research areas related to inorganic and organic polymers as well as materials of natural origin, contributing to the development of innovative biomaterials for modern medicine.
We wish MSc Eng. Kinga Siewierska a fruitful stay, many inspiring experiences, and great success in carrying out her research project!
